Yes there are hurricanes in Orlando FL. Rarely do we experience hurricane force winds (74+mph) but we do occasionally. The hurricanes come onshore 50+ miles away and that significantly weakens them. Orlando is also higher in elevation and the highest part in Central FL is within sight of Downtown Orlando.
