Speer Lake in Windermere FL

Speer Lake in Windermere FL or Lake Speer as some call it is located in western Windermere FL. In fact the homes along the shoreline on Speer Lakes west side actually are in Winter Garden FL. The waters edge is the Windermere address boundary.

Lake Speer has some very nice homes along its shoreline. It is also a private lake with a boat launch and pier in Signature Lakes and a boat launch in Eden Isle which is on the canal but just out of view in the photo above.

I lived on Speer Lake for quite some time before moving to where I live now which is on a larger lake. I lived in Signature Lakes on the western shoreline. I can tell you that this lake is often visited by seaplanes, we witnessed the fireworks in Walt Disney World nightly (unless cloudy) and we loved living on the lake. There are however some dinosaurs we shared the lake with. That never kept fishermen and watersports enthusiast away and there was never and incident. However in the evening and early mornings we did occasionally see some larger alligators.

Speer Lake has a surface area of 247 square acres. Since a square mile has 640, this lake has just under 1/2 of a square mile of surface area.
